BA Surface Pattern Design

My collection is inspired by British country living, using traditional and contemporary approaches. I utilise a mix up of traditional techniques such as lino printing to develop, explore and digitally manipulate into wallpaper designs.

Drawn botanicals inspire the content of the collection, gathered from my many visits to the ceramic collection at the Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea. Alongside these is the celebration of birds that we see typically in the British countryside and our gardens.

This collection will pay homage to traditional techniques whilst suitable to 21st century modern living. I admire designs that have an apparently natural narrative and I take this characteristic through my designs.

The next step in my design journey is to study at a higher level and complete my MDes at Swansea College of Art. I’m excited to further my skills and become more industry ready! My dream is to work for an interior design studio but I’m hopeful to work on commissions throughout studying at level 7.
