The migrant crisis in Europe has disappeared from the media headlines over recent times, despite it being an ongoing problem that affects thousands of people every year. My intentions were to explore both artistic and political issues to draw attention to the news that has been forgotten about. My research into the migrants’ stories utilised first person videos, news articles and documentaries to understand the individual reasons of why they are having to flee their country, and the extraordinary lengths they would go to in pursuit of their goal. Using the Strava app to track time and distance, I set out to walk the distance some migrants may cover on their journey. Through video, photography and journal writing, I documented my own struggle, both physically and artistically, to relay the migrants’ suffering during my own time of limited movement during Coronavirus isolation.
