BA Surface Pattern Design

I am a surface pattern designer who loves to experiment and play with different materials. My current collection is about reincarnating the mundane object, and due to the Corona Virus lockdown, I found myself working with the limits of what I have access to in my home studio. I created fun/abstracted, stitched wire mini sculptures that can either be displayed on the wall or they can be playful objects to wear on the body. I created a joyful palette to counteract the dreary world events.

I am continuing into the fourth year to gain my MDes qualification. After university I want to be self-employed, running my own studio. I would like to have my work exhibited and sold in galleries across the UK as well as showing my work annually at such aspirational events as Crafts Council’s Collect.

Surface Pattern has helped me grow into a confident Designer Maker. It has allowed me to develop and explore new ways of working, I now love to combine digital and traditional techniques to produce outcomes. This wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the amazing staff and their knowledge, who are with you every step of the journey.
