The concept behind my final major project stemmed from the notion of ‘Maximalism’ and the ‘Memphis Movement’. My most influential discoveries were designers like Camille Walala, Ettore Sottass, Jeff Koons and Olafur Eliasson, to name a few. Through my research, I identified there was constant quirkiness and geometric play within their work, which radiates a spark of joy in the spaces and environments that they are found.
I love the freedom Surface Pattern Design gives you to express your ideas and individuality, along with the experiences you can gain from live briefs designed by outside companies for the course. I found that the live briefs tested the limits and helped discover your true passion.
I aspire to teach and help the next generation. I intend on achieving this by continuing my education to postgraduate study, undertaking a PGCE.
