My name is Catherine Loraine and I’m a Transport Design final year student at The University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s based in Swansea. I’ve spent the last three years learning everything there is to know about the Automotive industry from sketching using different line weight techniques and shading to creating 3D vehicles using AutoCAD, Fusion 360 and finalizing them in a render using VRED software. Prior to attending University, I studied at West Cheshire college where I completed a Level 3 BTEC in art and design. This was a course aimed at 3D design where I crafted three-dimensional sculptures to place on show at my exhibition in my final year. Over the course of my three-year Degree, I’ve been given the chance to experience working alongside McLaren and been taught how to clay model correctly by the team at Jaguar Land Rover. The help and guidance have helped me to improve my skills and given me the knowledge to understand the strict protocols that these companies use and have helped me get ready for the automotive industry. Both experiences, I have worked in a group to execute a professional design which we achieved in a short amount of time.
