This project has involved situating myself within the ‘painting’ making aesthetic choices along the way in relation to such elements as the colour palette, but also the overall composition which transform the image. I carefully control the manner in which I portray myself to reflect my personality – I consider this my ‘In Real Life’. I am depicting what I want the world to look like, but also how I see the world.
Matching the colours of the photo to the background can make the image seem almost real – it blends the surfaces together – this manipulation also allows me to test boundaries. Science Fiction really pushes the threshold on what the future could look like – a utopian new world with flying cars in outer space, or a devastated landscape – how far can science go.
