To begin this project, I reflected on the work of artist Olafur Eliasson for which this exhibition title “In Real Life’ was inspired. Through research I came to understand that the centre of his artistic practice is his concern with nature. This encouraged me to reflect on the world around us. I ventured outside my home, where I am currently isolating, and began contemplating the beauty of nature. I went outside often to document what I was viewing with a pencil and paper.
My project has evolved as quiet reflections of the world around us and through a series of drawings and object – starting points on which to reflect. Limited to resources, I used those available to me and the fields behind me to contemplate this current pandemic, safe in my environment.
