The purpose of this work has been to explore the notion of the inhuman. I have developed this through constructed making methods, using cardboard to make an oversized, exaggerated prosthetic that I can encase myself in. The intention has been to make myself ‘sharp’ and ‘dark’ so this is reflected in the overall shape and colour of the piece, the cardboard, packaging tape and paint. The exhibition night proves an opportunity to perform in this piece, to acknowledge the awkward, hazard and absurd in negotiating such a piece, making myself up through cosmetics and artefacts. Artist’s Lucy Mcrae and Bart Hess also use their bodies as objects in which to experience the awkwardness and uncomfortable.
