ABOUT EMMA

As a designer I am driven by pattern and colour in all different contexts, mainly focusing on interior design. The basis of my work stems from practical techniques like painting, drawing and printing. I enjoy allowing the process of creating to guide my outcomes.

My final major project is inspired by the concept of biophilia, I wanted to create a collection of designs that would permeate within an interior context by blurring the gap between the natural world and the man-made.

Biophilia is a hypothesis that suggests that humans have an innate tendency to connect with nature. As humans we are often drawn to the rich diversity the natural world has to offer, its colours, shapes, and life are globally appreciated.

Understanding our desires to connect with nature, I wanted to encompass the notion of biophilic design within my project to achieve a tropical inspired collection that harmonises modern architecture with our longing for the natural world.
