My illustration and animation work focuses predominantly on issues of social justice.
My animation, Pushback, highlights the forced return to sea of refugees in the Aegean region. People escaping war and repression attempt to cross from Turkey to Greek islands, in small boats. If discovered by police, they are beaten, their phones and money stolen and are forced at gunpoint into unpowered dinghies. Once towed far out to sea, they are abandoned, to drift or drown. Both refugees and police operate clandestinely: the first from fear for their lives, the second from fear of publicity.
