Hello, my name is Blaine. I studied Civil Engineering in Swansea for 2 years before realising I would prefer to have an input on the aesthetics of the building as well as the construction, this led to me to change my career thoughts. My passion behind architecture stemmed from travelling and seeing how different locations had a different style of architecture and approach to design. A strong believer of using Architecture to create a positive impact on the building’s surroundings and the buildings users. Having the opportunity to have an input in the future of design was a large factor in my decision to become an Architect. As Frank Gehry once said, “Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.”
My final year project is a brewery in Pontypridd, which will provide an attraction for tourists. My proposal is for part the site to be occupied with shipping containers, that will provide a social space for street food vendors and small businesses, to help establish themselves, before moving back into the centre which in turn will boost Pontypridd’s economy. The idea behind the design is to create a modern design with links to the industrial history of Pontypridd.
