ABOUT ALIYA
The foundational concept informing my Major Project stems from the Welsh folklore that it is bad luck to have birds in the house. I was drawn to the sound and the beautiful shapes when they are in murmuration together. I was interested in language, so I decided to draw bird sound through sound waves and dot drawings through different mediums to capture the movements of the birds in flight.
In the future I would like to be perfecting my craft freelancing work and creating work for exhibition spaces.
Surface Pattern allows you to explore many pathways within designing through the freedom to try so many things out. I do not feel I would have gained the same confidence anywhere else, nor my diverse skill set if it wasn’t for the encouragement of my lectures and peers.
