PERMUTATIONS ON A DISLOCATION: KEY THEMES\/ABSTRACT\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>

Within my praxis I draw on autoethnography and Ingold\u2019s notion of \u2018wayfaring\u2019 to examine themes of rootlessness and dislocation.\u00a0 Glass with its fluid attributes is a medium that naturally lends itself to an exploration of these complex ideas. <\/span>I reflect on my own disparate and scattered generational roots, and how these have inevitably shaped how I experience my place in the world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

When responding to questions of where we belong, I question whether this simply invites an essentialist response such as \u2018here\u2019 or \u2018there\u2019, within such and such a border\/boundary? And if it does, is this too narrow a view to take \u2013 and one which risks separating us from our shared space, our common home. This concept of a shared home should surely lead us to engage more readily with the natural world, and therefore ecological concerns. Working outdoors, and simply being in nature, connects all of us both to what is rejuvenating and at the same time to what we risk losing due to the impending environmental crisis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
