Photography

Living through a global pandemic has driven drastic change to our social, environmental, and economic contexts, not least our relationship to photographic technologies. Adapting to new ways of living has provided us with a unique opportunity to reflect upon and question the times in which we live in ways that were unimaginable two years previously.

‘Estron’, a word derived from the Welsh language meaning ‘Alien’, is a distillation of the photographic work produced by third year BA (Hons) Photography in the Arts and BA (Hons) Documentary Photography and Visual Activism students at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD. Exploring complex personal, societal, political and environment questions, these artists seek to visually articulate developments of their ideas, acquired from a dedication to their unique approaches to contemporary photographic practice.

On behalf of the Photography staff at Swansea College of Art, we would like to congratulate the students on producing such diverse and engaging bodies of work and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
